Transcending from plain Jane to accessories addict
I have always loved fashion. Growing up, I insisted that my mother let me wear whatever my heart desired. From tights cut off at the bottom to bright blue cheerleading uniforms, I was a pint-sized fashionista (or at least I thought I was).
When I left for college, I was determined to avoid wearing sweatpants and T-shirts. My first year was spent in New York City, admiring the true sartorialists from afar. They looked so put together, although their styles varied immensely. I was in a city with unleashed fashion potential.
Fashion is an art form. And, like all art, it takes on many genres. Now a junior in college, I find that my clothing isn’t the only part of a look. I recall how it wasn’t only the tailored wardrobe that helped those New Yorkers inspire outfit envy, but the little details: an embossed leather watch here, an Hermès scarf there. These seemingly unnoticeable features made a look a LOOK.
Naturally, I was intrigued. I had never been one to spend on accessories, but seeing how so many people could utilize them in so many ways, I joined in the fray.
After a couple years of learning the ropes of styling accessories (and one move to Nashville), I am here to share my personal style with you. You could call it a mixture of everything. Some days I’m in the mood for a cerulean tribal necklace, but on other days, a simple pair of vintage earrings will do. I am completely aware that I am by no means an expert, but it’s just fun. This is my extension into the world to show you all how I prefer to style certain pieces.
So let me know what you would like to see. There will be a new post every Thursday morning. I’m also curious, what’s your favorite season for fashion? I love fall!
